Ehime, with its beautiful name derived from the myth of the birth of the country in the Kojiki, is a treasure trove of traditional specialties nurtured by its rich nature and culture. In addition to these products, the prefecture has recognized a number of attractive products, such as those that carry on traditions while being infused with new sensibilities, as "SUGOMONO".

What is SUGOAJI ?
Ehime Prefecture, blessed with beautiful nature and a mild climate, produces the largest amount of citrus fruits in Japan and can supply citrus fruits all year round, as well as lovingly grown "Aiiku Fish" and a wealth of high-quality agricultural, forestry and fishery products such as livestock products and vegetables. The prefecture is one of the leading "food ingredient kingdoms" in Japan, with the ability to create a wide variety of dishes. The prefecture also produces a wide variety of processed foods such as sweets, juices, and alcoholic beverages that make use of the characteristics of the ingredients. The prefectural government has recognized the superior ingredients and foods that we are proud of as "SUGOAJI".

What is SUGOWAZA ?
In 2011, Ehime Prefecture publicly sought data on manufacturing companies in Ehime possessing “SUGOWAZA”: leading-edge technologies and sophisticated techniques. For the 2023 edition, we have added some companies and “SUGOWAZA”to the enhanced database,which now contains information on a total of 210 companies and 273 SUGOWAZA.”
We hope to use this database to widely promote, inside and outside of the prefecture, the appealing companies and industries that together form the “underlying strength” of Ehime Prefecture, with the goal of both extending their markets and providing cross-industry matching services.

Maruei Towels is a towel manufacturer established in 1958 in Imabari City, the largest towel production area in Japan.
